Workshop of GREEK EDIHs on building a common Natural Disasters Resilience masterplan

The Greek network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) organized with great success a workshop for the preparation of a natural disaster resilience plan, on the occasion of the recent events in Thessaly, Evros, Evia and other affected areas of the country.

The event, which took place on Friday 6 October at the premises of the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos”, was coordinated by the Smart Attica EDIH hub, which aims at the digital transformation of Attica in the first phase, and of the rest of Greece afterwards, emphasizing on the sectors of Energy and Environment, Supply Chain and Mobility, Culture and Tourism. The event was welcomed by Mr. Georgios Nunesis, Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Dimokritos”, Mr. Evangelos Karkaletsis, Director of the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications, Dimokritos and coordinator of Smart Attica EDIH as well as Mr. Yiannis Kotsis-Giannarakis , representative of the Greek EDIH network and coordinator of the hub for digital governance GR digiGOV-innoHUB.

Also, the workshop was attended by representatives of the EDIH network and more specifically, Mr. Dimitris Filippidis, on behalf of the smartHEALTH EDIH, the hub that focuses on Smart Health, offering innovative electronic health services, Mr. Periklis Terlixidis, coordinator of Smart Attica EDIH and coordinator of the event, Ms. Maria Pournari, coordinator of the Health Hub EDIH, which aims to transform the Health and Pharmaceutical Industry through artificial intelligence services based in Thessaly and Mr. Nikolaos Ploskas and Fotios Tsampouris, representing the SYNERGiNN EDIH hub, which is active in the region of Western Macedonia in the fields of energy and environment.

The aim of the event was to bring together all the partners that make up the consortiums of the EDIH network, as well as the collaborating bodies of the hubs, which are businesses and public organizations, to examine possible actions and conduct productive discussions on a wide range of issues related to the prevention, management and response of natural disasters in the country. A digital collaboration platform was created, where initially the participants of 40 collaborating organizations and companies, contributed with their ideas and the services they could offer, which were then grouped and classified. Then, the real and possible relevant needs of the participants were recorded, by representatives of the regions of Attica, Thessaly and Central Greece as well as by representatives of the Hellenic Rescue Team of Attica, who honored us with their presence and contributed significantly to the discussion.
